When a member is confused by medical terms or has trouble understanding his or her doctor's explanations, the Ask-A-Nurse hotline can help. Nurses are available by phone to address members' medical, pharmaceutical, and nutritional concerns, provide expert answers and explain terms and concepts clearly and simply.
For example, suppose a doctor has recommended a surgical procedure and the member is not sure he or she fully understands the benefits and risks. The ClassicCard Nurse will help the member get the facts and better understand his or her medical options. The Nurse will work with the member, too, on decision-making strategies and help the member make informed decisions about medical care.
When necessary, the ClassicCard Nurse can direct members to other resources. Valuable tips for talking to physicians, obtaining written information and resource materials will be provided.
